The Big Book of High School Mnemonics in PDF: 274 tricks to memorize your coursework, from 10th to 12th grade
The file is the complete book: 161 color pages, A4 format, 274 numbered mnemonic tricks, and eleven sections (mathematics, physics-chemistry, biology/geology (SVT), French language, literature, philosophy, history-geography, economics and social sciences (SES), English, Spanish, and a "Methods, Baccalaureate & Grand Oral" section). Each page of content includes an exercise, totaling 137 exercises, and the solutions occupy ten pages at the end of the book: these are written corrections, not just simple answers. The content follows the general curriculum.
Four examples taken from the file
OPERA. Oxidation = Loss, Reduction = Gain of electrons. And for the rest: at the cathode, it reduces.
"Lili Berça Bébé Chez Notre Oncle Fernand Nestor" The second line of the periodic table in order: Li, Be, B, C, N, O, F, Ne.
"Diérèse = Deux (two), synérèse = Soudés (joined)" Two versification terms that are always confused, separated only by their initial.
The discriminant. Delta positive, two roots; delta zero, only one; delta negative, none. The neighboring card adds the sign of the trinomial: always the sign of 'a', except between the roots.
Elsewhere in the file: "Ce Mec Habite la serre" (This guy lives in the greenhouse) for the three greenhouse gases (CO₂, CH₄, H₂O), the rule for primitives of a power (the exponent goes up by 1 and you divide by it, never forgetting the + k), and S-M-H for the three totalitarian regimes, with the page warning: Hitler became chancellor in 1933, not 1939.
What the PDF format changes for high school
It’s a file that opens on a computer, tablet, or phone: the 28 philosophy tricks and 24 SES tricks fit in a student's pocket the night before an exam. And you only print what is useful: oxidation-reduction during that chapter, philosophy key points before the essay, the Methods section when organizing revisions.
At 161 pages, printing the whole thing has little interest, especially since you would have to bind it yourself: the file reads very well on screen.
PDF or paperback book?
Choose the PDF if your student mainly revises on a screen and wants to print à la carte. Choose the paperback version of the High School Mnemonics book, from 10th to 12th grade if they prefer turning pages, annotating with a pencil, and finding a section without searching through a file. The 274 tricks, 137 exercises, and ten pages of corrections are the same in both versions.
Finding in June what was seen in September
The high school curriculum spans three years; the exam takes place in June and covers what was seen in September. A memory trace weakens as soon as you stop engaging it, and highlighting does not engage it: you recognize the text, you do not produce it.
A mnemonic device does not replace the lesson. It labels it: a list of eight elements becomes a sentence you can recite anywhere, without documents, and the order, which understanding alone never provides, holds on its own. You find the label, then you unfold what lies behind it.
Regarding memory itself, the file does not theorize. Its final section opens with "Memorize for real" and boils down to four operational cards: test yourself instead of re-reading, space out your reviews of the concept, explain out loud, "if you can explain it, you know it," and sleep, because memory is built during sleep. The word neuron only appears in the SVT section, regarding the nervous message and the synapse.
Four cards taken far from the usual examples
"u prime v, plus u, v prime". The derivative of a product, in the order written: (u×v)’ = u’v + uv’. The card continues with the quotient: you derive the top first, keep the minus sign in the middle, and divide by v².
"ln(a×b) = ln a + ln b". The logarithm changes products into sums, which the book summarizes as "the × becomes +". The neighboring card shows the trap: ln(a + b) is not ln a + ln b, the rule applies to the product and never the sum; and ln x only exists for x > 0.
DOCTOR. The six uses of 'ser' in Spanish: Description, Occupation, Character, Time, Origin, Relation. Examples from the card: Son las tres for the time, Es de México for origin, Soy profesora for profession.
"actually = en fait". False friends, which the book calls the Baccalaureate's favorite traps: library is a bibliothèque and bookshop is a librairie, sensible means reasonable while sensitive means sensible, and eventually means finalement.

Making your flashcards from the file
The book’s Methods section presents flashcards as the number one tool for heavy revision: a question on the front, the answer on the back—you test yourself instead of skimming. The PDF format makes this immediate.
You print the pages for the current subject, cut out the tricks with scissors, and each card becomes a question. The front holds the concept, the back the trick. One deck per subject, reviewed fifteen minutes every two days, with missed cards put back in the pile: this is spaced repetition without needing to keep a calendar.
The book insists on this point: getting it wrong and then correcting it engraves the information much better than a tenth re-reading. A missed card is not a failure, it’s the only moment when you truly learn something.
Three uses that a bound book doesn't allow
Cutting. A paperback book cannot be cut up. A file can. You isolate the twenty tricks that are problematic and leave the other two hundred and fifty aside.
Sharing the load. In groups, you divide the subjects: everyone prints their own, prepares the questions, and quizzes the others. Preparing the questions already helps the person writing them revise.
Re-printing before the Baccalaureate. The pages annotated in September are no longer useful in June: you start again with a clean set, focusing only on the concepts that are still fragile.
This file replaces neither the lessons, nor the exercises, nor the practice papers. It contains exactly the same text as the paperback book: 274 tricks and 137 exercises, nothing more or less, in a format you can cut and re-print.
